Tee Ball Rules

1.            Tee Ball is a non-competitive division where score is not kept.  The objective of the game is to have all players participate equally, learn the game, and have fun!

2.            Games shall be either three innings, or last 1 hour of play, whichever comes first.  There are no umpires.

3.            The infield shall be an approximate 50-foot square.

4.            Field set up: the home team is responsible for field set up and clean up post-game.  For tee ball, the home team shall supply and set up the bases.  The home team shall also supply a tee for the game. The home team should occupy the third base dugout.  At the conclusion of the game, the home team shall also drag the field. If you are the last game of the day, the field must also be watered.

5.            Offense/Batting:

a.            All offensive players, with the exception of the current batter, shall be inside the dugout behind the fence at all times.

b.            Each inning, the entire lineup shall bat one time.  The teams shall switch sides after the entire lineup hits.   Lineup should vary each inning.

c.            While defensive players should be encouraged to attempt to make outs, if an actual out is made the runner will still remain on base to run the bases as if he or she were safe.

d.            Pitching:

Tee Ball shall start season with all players hitting off the tee.  As the season progresses, players who are capable can have coach pitch.  It is recommended that coach pitch occur from 15-20 feet away on one knee, either overhand or underhand depending on the skill of the player.  After 3-5 pitches, if the player does not bat the ball into play, the tee shall be brought in to finish the at bat.

e.            Base Running:

i.             Tee Ball:  After batting the ball, all runners shall advance only one base.  The last batter of the inning shall hit a “homerun,” where regardless of where the ball is hit, all players clear the base path.

ii.            Important: To avoid collisions, the defensive team shall remain at their positions until the last batter / homerun batter completes running the bases.

6.            Defense:

a.            Coaches shall do their best to place players at accurate baseball positions so kids begin to learn the positions for when they advance to upper divisions.  No players shall sit out, however.  When the five infield positions are filled (P, 3B, SS, 2B, 1B), the remaining players shall be placed as outfielders at the edge of the outfield grass spaced equally.

b.            In Tee Ball there is no catcher.

7.            Post Game Sportsmanship:

a.            At the conclusion of the game, so long as then currently in compliance with health and safety protocols, teams should engage in sportsmanship by way of a handshake or other agreed exchange.

b.            As the team is lined up prior to the high-five, they should remove their caps, face their parents in the stands, and thank them.
